While many of us enjoy a day off for Martin Luther King Day, we must remember that it really isn’t a day off. It’s a day on. King is known for his commitment to social justice through non-violent measures. And one of his most famous quotes asks the question, “What are you doing for others?” This day, honoring King and his legacy, is a way to answer that question by volunteering your time to serve your neighbors.

Research from the Corporation for National & Community Service has shown that older volunteers are the most likely to receive physical and mental health benefits from their volunteer activities.
