  • by Crystal Tillett

Summer time is known for warm days, warm nights, and a lot of fun, exciting, and adventurous vacations. But what about the end of the summer? The days get hotter and the time seems to go by so much faster. So where are the best places to relax and end summer the right way? Below are some interesting options of places to visit during the month of August.

Barcelona, Spain– Whether you want to walk around the Gothic Quarter or read a book on one of its many beaches, Barcelona can accommodate so many wants and needs. Located right on the coast of eastern Spain, Barcelona has almost-perfect weather all year round. A nice cool ocean breeze offsets any heat waves that may arise during your stay. There are so many experiences in Barcelona, it is hard to choose just a few. Time management and budgeting are key in this cosmopolitan city.

Miami, Florida– Miami is a popular tourist attraction because of its amazing beaches and booming nightlife. The summer is usually hot and humid, but when you’re in Miami, it is hard to do anything else but take a dip in the ocean or splash around in the pool. The Miami Beach Boardwalk is also a popular place to visit while traveling to┬áthis southern Florida city. Stretching from 21st to 46th street, the boardwalk features numerous shops, restaurants, and not to mention a gorgeous view of the ocean.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica– East of Montego Bay, Ocho Rios is a beautiful summer get away. Although temperatures may be a bit warm during this time of year, there are many things to do to help you stay cool. Visit some of Jamaica’s private beaches and relax, or take a few of the multitude of tours available. For example, the Black River Safari Cruise is a great way to relax on the water (on a pontoon) and explore the exotic wilderness of Jamaica.

Sydney, Australia– Looking to season swap and get out of the hot summer sun? Sydney is located in the southern hemisphere, where the seasons are opposite of North America! So when it is summer in the U.S., it is winter in Sydney. Not to worry, Sydney still has a ton of activities for the “winter” season and the weather is fairly normal during this time. Take a Segway tour around the city or tour some of its many beaches.

Grand Canyon, Arizona– If you are active and looking for an adventurous outdoor vacation, the Grand Canyon National Park may be your kind of spot. Take a few days or a week to explore the wonders of this beautiful park and all it has to offer, including numerous camping and hiking spots. Take a week adventure floating down a river or hiking the rocks of the canyon. It is usually very hot in the summer months so be sure to hydrate and bring sunscreen.
