The NBA Finals have ended, but did you know an interesting fact about One Reverse Mortgage and one of the teams in the NBA Finals? If you watched the NBA finals you know that it was played in Oakland at the Oracle Arena and also in Cleveland at the Quicken Loan’s Arena. Yes, the same Quicken Loans that One Reverse Mortgage is a part of.
In 2005, Dan Gilbert purchased the Cleveland Cavaliers. At the time, the Cavaliers had the player that would come to be defined as the best player of this generation, Lebron James. James would remain with the Cavaliers until the famed “Decision” in the summer of 2010, when he chose to play for the Miami Heat. From 2005 to 2010, Lebron James became the youngest player in NBA history to be named to the All-NBA Team, became the youngest winner of the All-Star Game MVP Award, he was awarded co-MVP honors with Steve Nash, and helped the Cavaliers in 2006 make the playoffs for the first time since 1998. Most importantly, he made Cleveland a fun and entertaining team to watch.
In 2009 and 2010 Lebron James captured back to back MVP awards, becoming the first Cavalier to ever win the award. Lebron James also led the Cavaliers to the 2007 finals against the San Antonio Spurs.
Lebron left for Miami after the conclusion of the 2010 season and helped the Heat reach four finals appearances, securing two titles for the city of Miami.
At the conclusion of the 2014 season, he returned to Cleveland with much fanfare and adulation. It immediately made Cleveland a contender in the Eastern Conference, which was backed up by numerous sports outlets choosing Cleveland to make the finals out of the Eastern Conference for the 2014-2015 season. Lebron made good on his return to Cleveland, leading the Cavaliers into the Eastern Conference finals, sweeping the Atlanta Hawks in four games, this happening after losing All-Star power forward Kevin Love at the start of the playoffs.
In the first game of the NBA Finals, the Cavaliers lost another key player with an injury to Kyrie Irving. Down two potential game-changing players, Lebron willed the Cavaliers to two wins in the NBA finals, only to lose the championship in Game 6 on their home floor in the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.
The Cavaliers are not the only team purchased by Dan Gilbert. In 2008, he expanded his grip on the home finance landscape by purchasing One Reverse Mortgage out of San Diego, California. Using the family of company’s ISM’s, he has helped make One Reverse Mortgage become one of the largest lenders in the reverse mortgage space with offices in San Diego, Detroit, Honolulu, and Las Vegas.
Though loosely affiliated, it is always a pleasure to watch Lebron James and the Cavaliers play basketball. Everyone at One Reverse Mortgage and the family of companies can honestly say that the Cavs are our team members and we will all cheer for them when they bring a championship to Lebron’s hometown, and to our adopted home town, Cleveland, the forest city.
