After 60+ World Cup matches over the last month, it came down to two teams that had never won a World Cup, Spain and the Netherlands. After 116 minutes of heated battle, Spain broke through for the lone goal of the game and once it was all said and done, the proud Spaniards lifted the trophy over their heads and can be called Champions for the next 4 years.
I watched probably 50 of the games and can honestly say that this World Cup was one of the memorable ones, not for the play on the field, or the officiating, but for 2 reasons. #1, the Landon Donovan goal in the 91st minute to get the USA team into the knockout round, and #2 for those wonderful horns that i heard in the background of every game.
Yes, the Vuvuzelas, I am thankful that for hopefully the remainder of my life, I will never have to listen to these painfully annoying buzzing horns ever again.
Congratulations Spain on becoming World Cup 2010 Champions. In four years, in Brazil, you will get a chance to defend that championship!
